Design and Installation of Retrofit Packages

The Tank & Automotive Systems Division designs and markets upgrade packages & rebuild kits to improve the performance and increase the capabilities of wheeled or tracked military vehicles.

NAPCO was among the first US companies to be involved in designing and executing proven vehicle modernization programs, working with the engineering staff of the Detroit Diesel Allison Division of the General Motors Corporation, and performing initial contracts on behalf of U.S.A.I.D (US Agency for International Development).

The Tank & Automotive Systems Division specializes in converting gasoline-powered wheeled and tracked military vehicles to economical and efficient diesel-powered systems. Upgrade packages and rebuild kits make it possible to return vehicles to active service with front-line units. Modernization and rebuild packages contain everything necessary for a complete installation: the new diesel engine, radiators, air cleaners and instrument panel, as well as electrical system components including all harnesses, driving lights and turn signals.  New automatic transmissions are also available.  Brackets, mounts, nuts, bolts, and screws complete the package.  Kits are available to rebuild and completely overhaul axles, transfer cases, brakes, propeller shafts and vehicle suspensions.  Hardware such as bearings, seals and gaskets are supplied complete; gears and shafts are supplied in quantities based on NAP CO's wide experience and on military statistics compiled in the field.
